The Modeling

The body

I first made the body of the knight using the image as a reference. I tried to keep as clean of a topology as possible.

Cloak

I then made the cloak. I did this by using curves. I placed them in the right places, curved them to the right position so that it would cove most of the body and then converted them to mesh.

Nail

The knight has a weapon called a nail. So I wanted to give him one on his back too. It luckily is made out of a pretty simple shape making it very easy to replicate.

I gave it a metallic material and two different ones for the blade/handle and the groves.

Bench

Then I made the iconic bench that the knight uses to rest on. I made it using curves that I then converted to mesh.

After that I fixed all the topology and reduced the amount of faces it had

Texture

I most used some simple colors for the textures. The bench got a metallic texture and the lifeblood got a glass one.

I then used the nodes in blender to create this random stone brick texture.

Light

I then added some light coming out of the lifeblood and rendered the picture.

About the project

I made this project for fun. I love the game Hollow Knight and wanted to see with the skill I had at the time if I could make a 3D model of the knight.

Everything I made was done in blender. I modeled, textured, placed lights and rendered the picture in here.

I wanted to set up a small scene with some iconic items from the game (the bench and the lifeblood plants)

It was an interesting to process to work on something in blender fully on own accord without any project being attached to it. It was just to make a pretty static piece that i use as my background to date.
